Thrift Stylings - Fashion Over 60

I love a good thrift find! If you're on the hunt for a few modest pieces to add to your Summer wardrobe, don't overlook the thrift store. I was looking for a few light-weight dresses for church. I made out like a bandit at Goodwill! By that, I mean I was able to use my birthday month discount as well as the "color of the week" discount. Truly, a fantastic day of thrifting!

One of the dresses I found, and turns out to be my favorite of the haul, is a Eddie Bauer100% linen maxi-dress. It's the kind of dress that can definitely take you into the fall. Just add a pair of booties! So nice!

I believe in sustainable or pre-loved fashion. It makes sense to re-use items that are in good shape and keep them out of the landfill.

The thrift store is full of surprises. I never know what I'm going to find. That's the beauty of it!

Thrift Stores Are So Messy and Unorganized: Unpopular Opinion About Thrifting

Unpopular Opinion: Thrift stores are messy and unorganized. Not all stores. Many thrift stores are neat and organized. You'll find items tagged and organized by size and sometimes by color. In most cases, thrift stores use shelves, bins and clothing racks to display items.

I've shopped at some well-kept thrift stores that resemble vintage boutiques. The items were curated and displayed in such a way that at first glance it was hard to tell that the store was selling second-hand goods.

So before painting all thrift stores with a wide brush, try a few shops in different areas of town. Venture outside of your neighborhood to get a flavor of how different thrift shops are organized. I bet you'll be pleasantly surprised at what you find.

"Thrift Stores Never Have Anything" - Unpopular Opinion About Thrifting

Unpopular Opinion About Thrifting: "Thrift stores never have anything". I've heard this so many times before, but I disagree.

You never know what you're going to find at a thrift store, but that's the beauty of it. Don't give up! There are days when I can go to several thrift stores and nothing will catch my eye. But I continue to go back because I enjoy the experience and I know that if I keep at it, I will eventually find something that I like or need.

Thrifting is like playing sports. Sometimes you win; sometimes you lose. To win, you must stay in the game. So, get back out there and THRIFT!

Awesome Thrift Haul Dresses From Goodwill

There are so many great buys at the thrift store! I recently made my way to my local Goodwill and came away with some awesome finds, including six dresses.

I'm a big proponent of recycling clothing and even household goods, where it makes sense. It's good for the environment, not to mention that your dollar goes far at a second-hand store. Don't sleep on the thrift, Y'all!

Here are few pics from a recent Goodwill thrift haul. Don't you just love the hat?

One of my finds was a Free People dress. I considered re-selling it.  Free People merchandise does well on the re-sale market, but I think I'm going to keep it.  I'm thinking of closing my Poshmark closet, but we'll see. Maybe I'll address that in separate blog post.

I'm so excited about my latest thrift finds and I can't wait to style them!
