Active "Plus 60" Women's Fashion on a Budget

Thrifting is my passion! I have a conservative style, so I gravitate toward fashion that is comfortable and modest. Recently, I found several pre-loved @Talbots blouses that I absolutely love!

Each blouse can be worn with jeans, a blazer, tucked or tied.

A friend of mine said she wasn't fond of one of them, but I'm trying to win her over by styling it with pearls. How can she not like anything when adorned with a string of pearls?

Anyway, these blouses, in my opinion, are perfect for the active "Plus 60" woman.

Denim Jacket Fashion On a Budget - Walmart Review

Want to up your denim jacket game and not break the budget? Try Walmart! Yes, Walmart! Their Time and Tru Women's line has a new denim jacket that comes in Black Wash (what I'm wearing), Dark Wash, Medium Wash, and Sandstone Pink Wash to name a few. Cost $19.98 and runs in sizes XS to XXXL. Can you believe that?

The jacket has slit side pockets and flap pockets on the chest. It has a little stretch to it and I love it! I found mine in-store, but you can also find them at walmart.com. Would you wear this jacket? Drop me a line and let me know.

How to Install a Peel and Stick Tile Backsplash - Tic Tac Tiles

Your girl installed a whole peel and stick tile backsplash! I bought a townhouse back in 2004. It was a new build with mostly builder-grade amenities. Over the years I have painted a few rooms, but there are large sections of the house that remain untouched. You know that flat white paint that the builders use that catches every scuff? Well, I still have it.

So, I've decided to do a few upgrades, starting by adding a much needed kitchen backsplash. I decided to try peel and stick tiles. There are so many styles out there. Cost and ease of installation were important to me since I would be doing this project on my own. Another thing, this townhouse is not my primary residence and I really didn't want to make a huge investment at this time.

After searching the internet, I selected Tic Tac Tiles and they graciously sent me five samples from their peel and stick collection. I had a tough decision to make! I polled my social media followers for feedback on which way I should go. The response was overwhelmingly positive! I chose the Metallic Marble White peel and stick tile. Great decision!

So how did I do?

Tips - Things You Must Consider

  1. Clean your walls thoroughly with a degreaser. If you have stuck-on grease spots, use a steel wool pad or something similar to scrape off the gunk. A clean surface is a must in order to get maximum adhesion!
  2. Use the proper tools. Scissors, level, ruler or measuring tape and a pencil are about all you will need to install vinyl peel and stick. For more durable peel and stick tile like Metallic Marble White tiles, I would recommend a utility knife instead of scissors.
  3. Before applying a sheet of tile to the wall, peel the paper backing half way. This will give you a little more control so the entire sheet of tile doesn't adhere to the wall before you have it properly lined up. It's really sticky! Slowly peel back the rest of paper covering as you adhere the tile to the wall. In the case of Metallic Marble White, one end of the sheet of tile simply interlocks and snaps into place.

The Hard Part - Cutting Around Outlets

If you're working with vinyl tile, cutting around outlet covers should be pretty easy. Because the Metallic Marble White tiles is much thicker than vinyl, I used my utility knife to score the area that I wanted to cut. Then I used wire cutters to nip away at the tile until I had the results I needed.

The Good Part - No Grouting

I love my tile backsplash!  And the best part is, I did it myself! With Metallic Marble White peel and stick tiles, you get the look of real stone tile, without the hassle of grouting. I don't mind that at all!

Miral Studio Lipstick and Nails Review

I don't usually write about glamour or beauty. There are more than enough influencers on social media to take care of that. But when a company reached out to me with an offer to try their lipstick and press-on nails, I figured, why not?  I mean, I wear make-up. I like make-up. I've been wearing make-up for over 50 years.

That company is Miral Studio. I tried their 2-in-1 Matte Lipstick  and Liquid Lipstick as well as their Reusable False Nails. The nails were quite nice. Each set of nails comes with a separate sheet of little adhesive pads. I tried on a set of Short Solid Color Matte Black. So cute and unobtrusive!

I also sampled their RGLL 10 liquid lipstick. What an awesome red! The liquid formula glided on with absolutely amazing coverage! No bleeding. And get this. It lasted for hours! Definitely a keeper.

Their nude lip coverage, RGLL08, is also a luscious color, which on me appears to be a mixture of tan and orange. I like it!  It's hard to find a good nude lippy, especially for women of color.

So will I start doing more beauty content? Who knows? But I did have fun trying on these products!

Are Cervical Pillows Worth The Hype? Memory Foam Cervical Pillow Review

Is getting a good night's sleep becoming a pain in the neck? Maybe you just need to change your pillow. Have you heard of a cervical pillow?

Like most people, my body needs to be in a certain position to get maximum sleep. I'm basically a left-side sleeper. That's my optimum position. But I usually have to prop up several pillows to get my arms situated and my neck positioned just right if I expect to get that deep sleep.

Want to elevate your sleep game?

Let's discuss my new Wellnestro memory foam cervical pillow from Amazon. What does it do? The sellers tout the benefits of the pillow by saying that it supports your cervical alignment and helps you find that comfy sleeping position. The pillow has a deep curve that cradles your head in comfort whether you sleep on your side, back or stomach.  And there's even a place to rest your arm. I'm a fan of that!

The pillowcase, which is machine washable in cold water, is so soft and cushiony! And the pillow comes with its own bag for easy storage. It's backed by a 2-year warranty. I like that!

I tried my cervical pillow for the first time last night and found it to be quite comfortable.
The ergonomic neck support is a plus!  The way the pillow is engineered provided support for my head, but it was surprisingly soft at the same time. More importantly, I didn't feel like I was straining my neck or like I was in an awkward position.

Overall, the pillow is definitely a good buy for the price.  I mean, what price would you pay for a good night's sleep?

Tabletop Fire Bowl Using Bio-Ethanol Fuel

Do you like toasted marshmallows?  I toasted marshmallows for the first time yesterday. As a child, I was never a fan of this treat.

But I wanted to try out my new tabletop fire bowl, so I thought I'd venture outdoors and give this toasted marshmallow thing a try.

This tabletop fire bowl was an Amazon purchase. It was so simple to set up. No tools  required. Seriously, not even a screwdriver! It comes with everything you need to get your intimate groove on, except heating fuel and a lighter.

I've seen similar units at restaurants and other outdoor eateries. It adds a real classy touch to your dining experience.

As I mentioned, this unit was purchased from the internet. It comes with 1) a fuel can (tray), 2) protective glass panes to keep the flames under control and 3) a cover to extinguish the flames. To operate, you will need to order:

  1. Ventless/Odorless Bio-Ethanol Fuel
  2. Butane Lighter (Extended style)

Once lit, the flame should last about an 1.5 hours. That's all there is to it! Please read the safety precautions before using this product or any fuel burning apparatus.  Although the instructions state that the unit can be used indoors and outdoors, I'm a little afraid of open fires, so you'll only find me using my tabletop fire bowl outdoors.  I'm just sayin'.

And, by the way, the toasted marshmallows turned out great! But I'm still not a fan!
